Mission Statement

The Sustainable Future Section supports sustainability within the Oregon legal profession and the practice of law through (1) educational programs, (2) examination of the integration of law and sustainability, and (3) dialogue about the needs and interests of future generations.

What’s New

Phil Mote will speak on June 5 from noon to 1:15pm on projected impacts of climate change on natural areas in Oregon.  Join us at the Wells Fargo Building at SW Fifth Avenue and Jefferson in Portland, 21st floor.

The next meeting of the Executive Committee of the section is on Tuesday, May 21, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the offices of Stoel Rives in Portland, Oregon.  Contact section secretary Jennifer Gates if you would like to attend or participate by phone.

The Spring 2013 issue of The Long View is now available – read the feature articles from attorneys at the Center for Biological Diversity’s new office in Portland on the history of the Endangered Species Act, the importance and meaning of biodiversity, the multi-layered importance to saving any single species, and a review of the 2011 settlement with the US Fish & Wildlife Service to timely review 757 species for possible listing.
